Party May 3 at Former Piano Warehouse
By Linda Collins
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN — A grand opening is planned Thursday, May 3, for the old piano warehouse building that is being converted into condominiums on the edges of Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene.
The developers of the building, at 96 Rockwell Place, will be celebrating its proximity to the BAM Cultural District because that is what attracted them to the building in the first place.
“We like this building because of its proximity to BAM and what we see as the tremendous growth in arts and culture in the area,” said Josh Landau, a principal of Integrated Capital, the developer. “And when we found this former piano warehouse, we saw immediately that it fits in perfectly with that theme.”
Halstead Property Development, selected to handle sales and marketing, is hosting the grand opening, which will take place at its sales office and model unit on the Flatbush Avenue side of the building, at 55 Flatbush.
The opening will take place from 6 to 8 p.m., according to Bill Ross, head of Halstead in Brooklyn, and will feature celebrity Brooklyn chef Alan Harding, known for his Smith Street restaurants Uncle Pho, Red Rail and Patois, and his “Cookin’ in Brooklyn” show on the Discovery channel.
The 37 residences will be a mix of studios and one-bedroom units, plus two one-bedroom penthouses on the top floor.
