Industry leaders to be recognized at celebration

The Real Estate Board of New York will honor these six industry professionals at its annual banquet on Jan. 15.

AWARD Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate

RECIPIENT MARY ANN TIGHE

TITLE Chief executive, CB Richard Ellis Inc.'s New York tristate region

Ms. Tighe has helped CBRE become one of New York's pre-eminent firms since she joined in 2002. She has served on the executive committee of the board of governors of REBNY since 2001. She currently serves as vice president.

Ms. Tighe is a six-time winner of the Real Estate Board of New York's Deal of the Year award for ingenious brokerage.

AWARD Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker

RECIPIENT LEONARD LITWIN

TITLE President and chief executive, Glenwood Management Corp.

Mr. Litwin has been involved in apartment house construction and management for more than 50 years and has remained one of the most active owners of high-rise Manhattan buildings.

He supports the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America, co-founded The Litwin Zucker Alzheimer's Research Center and established The Litwin Foundation. Mr. Litwin is also a major supporter of Jewish causes.

AWARD Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition

RECIPIENT EARLE S. ALTMAN

TITLE Chairman, ABS Partners Real Estate

Mr. Altman co-founded ABS Partners Real Estate in 2000 and practices in the acquisitions, sales, management, leasing and advisory groups. He is currently working on a program for middle-income housing development in Queens.

Mr. Altman was recognized as Young Man of the Year in 1971 and Senior Man of the Year in 1982 by the Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association of New York and is actively involved in various charitable organizations.

AWARD George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year

RECIPIENT JAMES H. FARLEY

TITLE Senior vice president, Stahl Real Estate Co.

Mr. Farley is responsible for the construction, development and management at Stahl. He oversaw the renovations of 277 Park Ave. and the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

Mr. Farley is a director at REBNY and is a member of the Realty Advisory Board's Negotiating Committee and Building and Managers' Association International.

AWARD Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian

RECIPIENT DIANE M. RAMIREZ

TITLE President, Halstead Property

Ms. Ramirez helped found Halstead Property in 1984 along with Clark Halstead. She serves on the executive committee of REBNY and co-chairs the board of directors of the residential division of the Board of ResidentialNYC.

Ms. Ramirez was awarded the first REBNY Deal of the Year award in 1988 and received recognition in 2006 from New Jersey's Valerie Fund for her involvement with the charity.

AWARD Young Real Estate Man of the Year

RECIPIENT JOSEPH A. GROTTO JR.

TITLE Senior managing director and principal, Colliers ABR Inc.

Mr. Grotto has overseen commercial sales totaling more than $300 million during his career. He co-founded J. Grotto & Associates with his father, Joseph Grotto Sr., in 1986, which merged into Colliers ABR in 2003.
