Hints Of Soap And Steel Remain At Dumbo's Kirkman Lofts
Dumbo's Kirkman Lofts has come far since the day it was struck by lightning: the former Development Du Jour has been on the market since April, and according to StreetEasy, 18 units are in contract. Building reps invited us over for a look, so take a peek at the model unit and a few still-under-construction areas in the gallery above. There's a modern amenities package, but the building's marketing pitch focuses on its history—it was built in 1915 as the Kirkman & Son Soap Company. When the building was converted, it kept the soap factory's "steel silo accents." Prices on the units still left: $570,000 to $1.06 million, and the PriceUpper's recently paid a few of those apartments a visit.
