Halstead Property Acquires Wheeler Real Estate

Halstead Property, identifying an opportunity for strategic growth, announces its expansion into Fairfield County.

Halstead has acquired Wheeler Real Estate, one of the top firms in Darien. The new company is known as Halstead Property Connecticut, doing business as “Halstead Property Wheeler.”

“Halstead Property Wheeler represents our strong commitment to smart, strategic growth while maintaining our reputation as a highly respected, prestigious and ethical firm,” said David Burris, co-chairman of Terra Holdings, the parent company of Halstead Property.

“This is an incredible opportunity for Halstead Property to expand strategically into the suburban Connecticut marketplace,” said Diane M. Ramirez, president of Halstead Property. “The natural synergy between Halstead and Wheeler make the combined brand name undeniably strong in the New York and Connecticut areas. With similar cultures, strong ethics, Halstead Property Wheeler will become the leading real estate force in Darien and the local surrounding communities.”

Located at 671 Boston Post Road, Halstead Property Wheeler has been in business since 1927 and has 55 real estate agents servicing the communities of Darien, New Canaan, Rowayton and Norwalk. The office will be run by four key Wheeler executives: Nancy R. Dauk, David K. and Holly S. Hawes and Edward E. Saunders.

Dauk and Holly Hawes will serve as executive directors of sales for Darien; David Hawes as the designated broker; and Saunders will be chief operating officer and director of sales for Darien.

For more than 10 years, the firm has been led by Dauk and the Hawes’. The firm has consistently ranked as one of the top in the area. All four executives and their agents are active in the community and are well-known for their contributions to local initiatives, events and sponsorships.

“With the establishment of the Halstead Property Wheeler office, we are strengthening an existing relationship and going from being relocation partners to uniting as a top firm,” said David Hawes. “There is a natural flow of clients to and from Connecticut and New York — and Halstead Property Wheeler will be able to address all of their real estate needs.”

Halstead Property is headquartered at 770 Lexington Ave., New York City. The firm has more than 700 sales and rental agents throughout 13 prime retail storefront offices. Halstead manages more than 8,000 residential units within 82 buildings.
