A new residential development consisting of eight smart-sized "green" homes will be erected on West Avenue in Noroton Heights over the next year.
Developed by Hertz Construction, Inc., the homes were designed by LaVigna Associates and Halstead Property is serving as the sales agent.
The development emphasizes open spaces and conservation, and features eight single family homes offering three architectural styles including Colonial, Victorian and Arts & Crafts. Each home will be approximately 2,800 square feet offering layouts of two or three-bedrooms and 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms.
In addition, each residence will feature a two-car garage, private terrace, fireplace, high ceilings, energy saving appliances and windows, high efficiency insulation with spray-in foam, gas heating and air conditioning, as well as laundry and office space
"We are extremely proud to bring this exciting new style of living to Darien," said John Hertz of Hertz Construction.
"Noroton Green is making history in the town for a few reasons: it is the first development in the community with 30% of the land specifically designated as open space; it is the first development to be Green Certified using National Association of Home Builders standards; and it is the first development of this kind within convenient walking distance to necessary amenities like shopping, schools and public transportation... Our buyers will enjoy the amenities and advantages of a stand alone home, but with the property maintenance managed by the association."
Edward Saunders, Halstead Property executive director of operations, said there is a limited amount of new construction offered at this price point in Darien and the surrounding towns.
Other homes are "certainly not (equipped) with the custom features and amenities that are offered at Noroton Green," Saunders said.
"We are thrilled to be offering these homes exclusively through Halstead," Saunders said.
The first unit is listed at $1,395,000 and can be viewed on Halstead's Web site at halstead.com.
