Whats New Looks Old In East Hampton
A six-bedroom, 5-5-bath Yankee barn home in East Hampton village is on the market for $3.95 million.
The owner, Manhattan interior designer Jeffrey Rosen, says he wanted the new house to look like it had been there a while. So he used whitewashed board and batten siding and a textured cedar-shake roof. One key feature, he says, is the 2.5-story great room with a Texas limestone mantel and timber beams.
The 5,000-square-foot post-and-beam structure, which was handcrafted at the custom home builder’s headquarters in Grantham, N.H., was reconstructed here as a spec home.
