Adrian Thompkins is passionate in his pursuit of life-long learning and passing on knowledge to others. After teaching English and public speaking for a decade, he taught classes on real estate investment at The Learning Annex. To keep himself and his clients up to date, he loves nothing more than to spend his rare off days rediscovering old neighborhoods. His intimate knowledge of the city’s different neighborhoods, architecture and history makes him an ideal broker. Adrian prides himself on being an excellent and very patient listener.
He strives to understand his client’s goals and then sets out to guide them step by step through the process of finding a home in one of New York City’s many exciting neighborhoods. With his market-savvy professionalism, warmth and versatility, Adrian has won the respect of his clients on the buying and selling side alike.
Since attaining degrees from Hofstra University and New York University, he has been a literary editor and an assistant to a legendary literary agent whose writers include a Nobel Prize laureate and Pulitzer and multiple Academy Award winners. In addition, he has worked many years as first reader for graduate school writing programs and as a freelance manuscript consultant. These experiences taught him how to interact with demanding clients and fine-tuned his consummate skill in customer service. Adrian became known for his meticulous attention to the minutest of details. Further, he was a successful union actor with appearances in films, television and as a principal in local and national advertising campaigns, as well as a much sought-after voice-over artist. Adrian has also taught English literature at the college level. All of these experiences served to enhance and showcase Adrian’s natural poise, communication and negotiation skills.
Partnering with Shebrelle Hunter-Green since spring 2005, Adrian, specializes in landmark and unique properties located in Harlem’s Hamilton Heights and in the up-and-coming South Bronx neighborhoods, including High Bridge, Longwood and Melrose. In 2007, the team represented the seller on the landmark Edwin and Elizabeth Shuttleworth House in East Tremont, which is one of the few suburban mansions left in the Bronx. The magnificent 18-room home was built in 1896 and boasts many of its original details such as hand carved fireplaces, tin ceilings, pocket doors and sculptural features.
In his free time, Adrian enjoys cooking, carpentry, architecture and yoga. He also helped found a non-profit educational organization in Manhattan and is a volunteer editor for a Harlem-based youth journalism organization. An experienced Reiki teacher, Adrian is the well-informed, well-prepared and calming presence who helps to make the buying and selling process smooth and pleasant.
