Associate Broker
When it’s time to buy or sell a Manhattan co-op or condo property, Catherine Holmes is the person you most want to guide you through the process. She is honest, straightforward, easy to get along with, tuned in to everything that is going on around her and always the complete professional with an eye toward a good investment. She brings 22+ years experience in residential real estate to Halstead Property, along with extensive knowledge of Manhattan residential properties. Ask around and you'll hear about her strong reputation for exceptional client service.
Catherine chose her early career in restaurant management and her current one in real estate because they are both service oriented -- making people comfortable, happy and at home in new surroundings. She is an excellent listener, can read between the lines and has come up with a format that gets her buyers thinking out loud, guiding her clearly to the home they are dreaming of. She is savvy about apartments all over Manhattan, and knows how to point out those undesirable characteristics-- noisy steam pipes, store delivery entrances just beyond the window, difficult co-op boards, etc, that may otherwise become apparent only when it is too late.
Catherine has lived on the Upper West Side with her husband and children for thirty-four years, has been president or part of the executive committee of parent-teacher associations at both private and public schools in the city and loves the West Side for all its sundry charms. She has served, in past years, as president of her cooperative association, dealing with the complicated legal and fiduciary issues protecting shareholder’s values. As a long-time resident of the Upper West Side, she can point out the changes that have taken place there over the years and the ones that are imminent.
While she handles exclusives for sellers all over the city, Catherine's knowledge of the Upper West Side makes her a best bet for clients looking to buy or sell a home there. Catherine’s honesty and openness with other brokers, and 22+ years of experience, enhances her ability to find homes for buyers. As the seller of exclusives, Catherine is able to focus on marketing using her extensive contacts to ensure that the widest range of potential buyers is informed about the property. She will price the apartment accurately according to the ever-changing marketplace by providing both buyers and sellers with recent sales prices in the area. She also makes certain if representing the seller that the property shows at its best to be certain the property will receive the top exposure, traffic, and sell for the highest price possible in the shortest time. She enjoys removing the stress from the sales process on both sides of the deal.
In 2007 Catherine's husband, Tom, joined her in the real estate business. This is not the first time they've worked together. Back in the early 80's they owned and operated a fine dining restaurant called, The Little Club, in New York City. After 28 years of marriage, they decided to "team up" again for the latest chapter, The Holmes Team!
