Karen Riedel Gordon (formerly Karen Shunick), a known figure in the New York City condominium development community for over ten years, brings her maturity, unrivalled integrity, and ability to address the needs of New York’s demanding clientele to Halstead’s Midtown office.
A native of Wisconsin, her diverse real estate background was inspired while living in Miami. After relocating to Manhattan in 1996, she began a career at Merrill Lynch on Fifth Avenue. There she assisted her clients not only with financial planning but had the pleasure of securing their mortgages, straight through to the excitement of their search for their new home and the closing.
After leaving the financial services a position at one of the premier commercial tenant representative firms in NYC led to the culmination in her establishing Kismet Construction, one of the few woman-owned full service general construction firms in New York. Kismet earned certification as a woman-owned business enterprise (MWBE) from both New York City and New York State. Projects included prominent condominium conversion projects, including 73 Worth Street and Arris Lofts.
Karen’s hands-on experience in multifamily construction and proven ability in working with contractors, architects, and (most importantly) buyers and sellers, make her an invaluable part of the Halstead team. With her condominium project background, comprising hundreds of luxury units, nearly a million square feet of interior redevelopment, and the management of tens of millions of dollars of contracts, Karen brings an unmatched expertise to her role assisting her New York clientele in the search for their ideal home.
