Mark Shakley has always had a keen interest in architectural design and interior décor. His background encompasses a combination of sales/marketing and residential real estate development. This experience enables him to guide both buyers and sellers to successful results.
Mark co-founded Newmark Rug Company and was chairman with the specific responsibility of sales and marketing of the product to department, specialty stores and catalogues. After selling the business to Mohawk Industries, Mark began to purchase and develop homes in Connecticut.
Mark’s first project was a cottage on Wilson Point with extensive landscaping and greenhouse conversion that resulted in a Better Homes and Gardens article. Next came a French Tudor home that was renovated and a conservatory was added to add light to the house. Shakley Properties then developed two waterfront homes on Five Mile River in Rowayton. The prospective buyers had some reservations about the property location on a main street. Mark knew they would love the serenity of the river and suggested them to “try it out” and spend a weekend living in the house. Creative marketing to overcome a buyer’s objection paid off and they made the purchase. It is that type of ingenuity and dedication that sets Mark above the rest.
As a realtor and property developer, Mark can envision the renovation and expansion possibilities of a property and guide the client through the entire process.
