Mary's philosophy is simple: "New York is a city where people want to live and have to live. In my book, that's a win-win. It's also one of the few cities in the world where every kind of living accommodation exists: from a prewar walk-up with a wood burning fireplace to a soaring glass penthouse with amenities and views stretching to eternity. I learned a long time ago that when working in a highly competitive industry in a highly competitive city, the most important elements for success are knowledge and focus plus determination and follow-through."
Mary has been negotiating and selling her entire career. She came to real estate following a stellar career in book publishing. As the former Director of International Publishing for Simon & Schuster, Inc., and as a literary agent who founded her own company in London and New York, Mary knows how to match the interests of both parties and bring those interests to a close. She has marketed, published and represented as agent a long list of celebrities and international bestselling authors on both sides of the Atlantic.
Born & educated in the Midwest, Mary has traveled extensively in addition to living in England and the South of France. But even when living abroad, Mary never gave up her residence in New York. From homes on the Upper East Side to a duplex at the Des Artistes to a townhouse in the Village, Mary knows New York. She also knows what it means to buy, sell and relocate internationally. She speaks French fluently.
Tenacious by nature, Mary is keenly aware that "whether representing the buyer or seller, one is privy to a client's personal needs and information. Discretion and ethical behavior are terribly important to me. So whether I am helping a seller move forward in life or a buyer to wake-up in the home of their dreams, I hold a deep respect for the asset value of the property and the need to protect that asset at all times."
Having moved to California, Mary was referred to me as someone I could trust to sell my New York apartment without my having to travel to NYC. She did an extraordinary job in coordinating repairs and personnel to prepare my apartment for sale with very little involvement needed from me. And, she found a well-qualified buyer who loves the apartment. Mary is highly recommended. - Kyle A., sellerMary is a gem in this industry. I interviewed several brokers from many of the top real estate agencies in New York, and Mary impressed me immediately. When it came time to list my apartment, Mary made solicited suggestions of things I could do to get the apartment ready to show. As a result, we listed my apartment for a much higher price than I thought possible. Not only did I get my higher asking price, the apartment also sold within days of its’ first showing. - Samantha F., sellerHalstead Property, LLC
