Rani Karnik graduated with her Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law, where she was President of the South Asian Law Students Association, Creative Producer of the Law School Light Opera Company, and President and Founder of the Entertainment and Sports Law Society.
Prior to law school, Rani earned a Bachelor of Arts in English literature, with distinction, along with a philosophy minor, from Barnard College of Columbia University. She also received her New York State Secondary School Teacher Certification, having completed her student teaching at Columbus Academy and the distinguished Mott Hall School, during this time. Rani is very active in her Seven Sisters alma mater and holds the current position as Alumnae Class Officer.
Prior to joining Halstead’s Park Avenue flagship office in 2011, Rani Karnik was a practicing finance attorney specializing in structured credit agreements and derivatives product documentation. Her experience includes advising the likes of the Derivatives Consulting Group, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, Toyota Financial Services and Bingham McCutchen LLP.
Rani Karnik is also a fine artist whose solo shows have debuted from east to west coasts. As such, she has an immense appreciation for the unification of aesthetics with utility in interior and exterior spaces. Her attention to detail is rivaled only by her passion for working with others.
Rani prides herself most on her relationships, from friendships with distinguished chefs, rock and roll personalities, banking and legal professionals, to biochemists and professors of neurology at premier research institutions. Given her circle of friends, and her own range of interests, she is attuned to meeting the needs and desires of a varied clientele.
Originally hailing from Long Island, Rani now maintains residences on Manhattan’s Upper East Side and in East Setauket, New York. Rani visits with friends in Los Angeles as often as she can, and makes every effort to travel to her grandmother’s homes in Mumbai and Pune, India, regularly.
