Vivian Ducat, licensed real estate salesperson in Halstead Property's Upper Manhattan Office, is a native-born New Yorker, raised on West 72nd Street and Riverside Drive in the converted dining room of a classic six. She has a master's degree in real estate development from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University, and completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard. Her master’s thesis, which informs her real estate work, was about the cutting up of large Manhattan apartments in the 1930s-the source of some of the odd apartment layouts that we have today. Vivian has been a real estate salesperson since 2008 and joined Halstead in 2010.
She is also a filmmaker-her feature documentary, "All Me: The Life and Times of Winfred Rembert," has been racking up awards on the festival circuit since it premiered at the Hamptons International Film Festival in 2011. A recent short film, Stonefaced, is about Harlem architect, Robert A. King's obsession with gargoyles on New York buildings. Vivian is also a producer of videos and interactive media for museums and for the web. Her recent clients include Columbia University, The New-York Historical Society and the Museum of the City of New York.
Vivian finds nothing more relaxing than reading real estate ads. She began reading them at the age of eight, and has been going strong ever since. She has been a coop shareholder since 1981 and has served on two coop boards. She lives in one of the grand 1911 buildings in the Audubon Park Historic District just north of Harlem. Her apartment still has a butler's pantry -without the butler- and an oak-paneled dining room, as well as views of the GW Bridge and the Empire State building. She loves seeing the city from inside apartments, and shares her enthusiasm for New York's cityscape with her buyers and sellers. Vivian is active in her neighborhood, serving on her Community Board and as the Co-chair of the Riverside Oval Association.
