Sara Rotter

Executive Director of Sales, Downtown

Sara Rotter joined Halstead in the Fall of 2011 as Director of Sales, Downtown and was promoted to Executive Director of Sales, Downtown in the summer of 2013. In her position, Sara works in conjunction with Richard Grossman, President of Halstead, where together, they are responsible for the continued success and strategic growth of the Village and SoHo offices of Halstead. Prior to joining Halstead, Sara served as the Senior Managing Director of Sales for the Gramercy, Flatiron, Chelsea and West Village offices for Citi-Habitats for more than 8 years. As a result of her hard work and dedication, the offices thrived under her direction producing over $1.3 billion in sales during her time at the firm.

Sara is both sincere and serious about building her agents' careers. With her own extensive knowledge and experience as a former agent and over a decade of managing hundreds of agents, she excels as a non-selling manager who understands the challenges of making real estate a full-time career. She strives to not only teach agents, but to keep their focus consistent, their motivation high, and their eye on the big picture so they continually reinvent themselves in their business. Sara provides her agents with valuable insight and suggestions on how to leverage the unique talents they possess so they can apply them to this business and develop their own craft, ultimately helping them achieve their goals. To do this, Sara offers a hands-on management style and unique sales approach based on the all-encompassing philosophy that customer service and satisfaction come first. She conducts one on one business development and marketing brainstorming sessions with individual agents as well as small-group in-office training sessions and intensive workshops that address specific topics applicable to real estate, from the psychology of sales to the actual processes that need to be in place to succeed at winning business. Sara also believes today's agent must add value. She encourages her team to learn the different neighborhoods and preview available inventory, "so you can be adaptable and knowledgeable in any market condition, no matter what your clients demand."

At Halstead, Sara serves on the Education Committee to contribute ideas to in keeping the curriculum both relevant and engaging. Most recently, she helped spearhead a Wellness Program at the firm to add health education to the firm’s ongoing training platform. One of her greatest pleasures is serving as the co-team leader for Halstead Helping Hands, a philanthropic foundation established to "give back" and better the daily lives of those in need through action-based support for local, community-focused not-for-profits in the marketplaces Halstead serves on the corporate, local-office as well as individual agent levels.

In 2015, she was asked to participate in a pilot Leadership Training program for Managers and Principals around the U.S, given by the Leading Real Estate Companies of the World. Sara has since been asked to come back to participate in the training as a guest speaker their Chicago Headquarters a few times a year. A big believer in self-awareness and the power of thoughts, Sara has undergone many different modalities of coaching training so that she can quickly empower agents to not just manage their respective businesses and time better, but their mental and emotional energy. “The power of being able to help someone shift their thinking from a negative perspective to that which is solution-oriented is quite possibly the most valuable tool in business (and life) that I have learned to date. It is a pleasure to utilize that skill with my team whenever needed.”

A New York City native, Sara intended to be a doctor after completing her Pre-Medical program at Harvard University. Who'd have thought that a bad experience with a landlord would lead her to a career in Real Estate? She got her start in real estate in Boston where she quickly became the top-producing agent in the city's finest real estate firm. During her last six months there, she was handpicked by a major developer to work as the exclusive on-site agent in Boston's premier Manhattan-styled luxury loft building. Even in one of the slowest markets, Sara was able to achieve 60% occupancy within three months after the completion of construction.

Sara is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York (REBNY), and an advocate for anyone who wants to make real estate a gratifying career. She also deeply believes in giving back to the community, which is why she consistently gives over 10% of her income to various charitable organizations as well as her time coaching and mentoring aspiring youth.
