William L. Zeckendorf is owner, founder and co-chairman of Zeckendorf Development, LLC, as well as co-chairman of Terra Holdings, LLC, parent company of Halstead Property and Brown Harris Stevens. Co-founding Zeckendorf Development with his brother in 1992, William Zeckendorf has been active in real estate development and acquisition, as well as the purchase and management of real estate companies for over 25 years.
The Zeckendorfs have developed approximately $4.0 billion in properties during their careers. One of their most notable completed projects is Fifteen Central Park West, a 200-unit luxury residential condominium which broke all North American records by achieving over $2.0 billion in initial sales. Among their latest developments are: 520 Park Ave a soaring 800 foot tall 54 story limestone condominium tower with just 31 exclusive residences, located on the Upper East Side at 60th Street between Park and Madison Avenues; 50 United Nations Plaza, a luxury condominium occupying a prestigious location across from the United Nations Headquarters and the first residential tower in the United States designed by Foster + Partners; and 18 Gramercy Park, a truly landmark condominium. This 1927 Georgian Revival building, reimagined by Robert A M Stern Architects comprises sixteen residences - each enjoying forty feet of frontage on and a key to Manhattan’s only private park, Gramercy Park. 18 Gramercy Park continues to set the standard for unparalleled luxury and beauty in Downtown Manhattan.
In addition, William Zeckendorf oversees the 14 operating divisions of Terra Holdings, LLC, as co-chairman, with a specific focus on the residential brokerage operations, leading the firm to become one of the largest privately-owned real estate service companies in the United States with seventy-five offices in four states that employs 3,000 brokers and other employees.
William Zeckendorf is a member of the Advisory Board of Christie’s International Real Estate, and the Realty Foundation of New York. He is a 1980 graduate of Tufts University, and 1984 graduate of the Harvard Business School.
