A Curbed Development Du Jour
Way back in the happy days of 2008, West Chelsea's +Art stalled for a bit but is now making a comeback, with occupancy projected by Halstead for "Spring 2010." The 13-story, 189-unit stack of condos and rentals from the architects at GF55 Partners has dropped its construction netting, revealing a face of big windows framed in rounded brick and detailed with industrial metal panels. Situated near the upper reaches of the High Line's under-construction Section 2, +Art's northern views are dominated by the big new OHM rental a couple of blocks over. That vista could change if the forest of towers planned for Hudson Yards ever sprouts (not to mention the promise of Avalon across the street). Despite progress on the building there's still not much to be found at the +Art website, and listings for the 88 condos are still offline. Pre-Lehman prices ranged from $520,000 to $4.16 million. Might those be coming down?
