Art has a lifelong association with Shelter Island, beginning as a summer resident. He moved to Shelter Island permanently in 1993, opening an accounting practice there.
Prior to this, Art lived in Manhattan and Brooklyn and was a Vice President and Product Controller at Deutsche Bank Capital Corporation, as well as Senior Manager in the Audit and Mortgage Finance departments at Deloitte. His international business background and deep financial experience offer unmatched analytical skills, ability, and insight to understanding residential real estate. Art has also dealt with diverse and sophisticated clientele in negotiation discussions.
Art's various involvements with Shelter Island are vast: he was twice elected Supervisor of the town, serving from 2001 to 2005. He also served as a member of Shelter Island's Land Preservation Advisory Committee. These experiences have given Art exceptional insight into the workings of town ordinances, land use, and other land-related regulations.
He also has considerable experience serving not-for-profit organizations, including the Shelter Island Chapter of the American Red Cross for 20 years. Art has also served on the boards of The Shelter Island Educational Foundation and Friends of the Library. He is a past Commodore of the Shelter Island Yacht Club. He currently serves as President of the Shelter Island Chamber of Commerce.
Art is a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and received his MBA at NYU's Stern School of Business, prior to becoming a Certified Public Accountant. Art raised two daughters on Shelter Island, and enjoys competitive ocean and local sailing.
