According to Bettina Nelson, the often overlooked, but equally important, corollary to the real estate mantra "location, location, location," is "service, service and more service." This commitment to serving her clients well- combined with uncompromising integrity and loyalty- is the essence of Bettina's approach and that of her partner and husband George.

A life-long resident of Carnegie Hill, Bettina has a comprehensive knowledge of- and feel for- Manhattan’s various neighborhoods. Working with both sellers and buyers, she employs both her deep understanding of the nuances for Manhattan's many neighborhoods as well as her in-depth knowledge of the marketplace to help her customers find or market their properties. She sells all over the city she loves, from downtown’s Financial District to upper Manhattan’s Washington Heights. She does, however, maintain a soft spot for the Upper East Side, recognizing that it is not merely a single neighborhood but a cluster of many mini-neighborhoods, each with their own distinct flavor and appeal. An apartment in Beekman Place will feel different than one in Henderson Place, different from one on Park Avenue in the 80s or Fifth Avenue in the 60s.

Bettina brings more than 16 years’ experience and success in real estate to Halstead. She was a regular member of her previous firm’s Multi-Million Dollar Club, ranked among the Top 2% of 60,000+ agents nationwide and was elected by her colleagues to serve on the company’s Advisory Committee. Prior to becoming involved in real estate, Bettina managed the Certificate Program at the New York School of Interior Design and was at the Edward Durrell Stone Associates architectural firm. Experience with both architecture and interior design allows her to bring a discriminating eye to each property she sees. Contacts established throughout her career prior to her profession as a real estate agent have proved invaluable for extensive design and construction resources.

Bettina finds her design background meshes well with George’s analytical and financial expertise. Moreover, with two people focused on every job she and George can offer total availability to their clients. They also brought up their son in New York and can help steer families to the many children’s delights in Manhattan and, perhaps, help avoid a few pitfalls as well. Bettina is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York, and has earned their New York Residential Specialist (NYRS) designation, held by only 2% of licensed brokers.

Bettina is an involved alumna of The Chapin School, is active in Episcopal affairs, sits on the boards of several Episcopal organizations and devotes time to her own parishes of St. James’ and Eglise du St. Esprit. A committed dog lover, for many years she and George accompanied their previous dog, Malcolm, on his trips to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was a weekly visitor to the children’s psychiatric ward and was named the hospital’s Volunteer of the Year in 2009. She and George now have their hands full with Clarence, a young Border Collie mix rescue. When she can steal a few days away from the city, Bettina will most probably be found traveling with George.

Lifelong New Yorkers and partners since before married real estate broker teams were common, Bettina and George Nelson find their individual backgrounds in design and finance enhance each other’s perspective for a whole greater than the parts. George’s skills in negotiating coupled with Bettina’s discerning eye makes for an unbeatable team. Widely respected and trusted by clients and colleagues alike, Bettina and George have built an impressive roster of repeat and referral clients.
