When asked how long she’s been in real estate, Marj answered, “Since I was eight; I learned at my mother’s knee. She was one of the first licensed brokers in Connecticut, and from my childhood I was involved in her lifetime work of buying, renovating and selling some ninety homes in the New Haven area. It’s in my blood.”
After college she worked in public relations and management consulting before moving to Westport where she taught school while her children were young. Even before getting her real estate license, she started buying and renovating houses, always with enormous flair and success. Each house took her closer to her “real estate roots’ until she became an agent over twenty years ago.
“For me, it’s more than a career. It’s a legacy from my mother; it’s a mission to help make people happy with the biggest purchase most of them will make. It’s also a source of personal gratification to help sellers make their homes as sales-appealing as possible and to help buyers find, and if necessary fix the home of their dreams, while protecting and enhancing their investment.”
Marj has a unique reputation among her long list of clients, many of whom became her best friends. In the words of one who has bought and sold three homes with her: “Marj is much more than an agent. When I list a house with her, she tells me exactly how to fix it to show, and who can get the job done at the best possible price. And if necessary she supervises the job herself! She has brought her own potted trees and huge, gorgeous planters of blooming geraniums to make one house H&G glamorous. When I’m in the market to buy, she spots problems and potential improvements that add beauty, charm, comfort and value. Marj can estimate costs of improvements on the spot. She has become my chief problem solver and resource center; what I need, where to find it, and who to call. More than one friend has told me I’m lucky to have her as my friend.”
